Speed to first base

2016/7/15 17:37:17

Question
Is there a standard way of measuring this? Is it from normal batting stance to first, or ball contact to first, or what? Thanks.

Answer
Hello Mike,

I start the time on first motion toward bag following contact.  You would probably get a more accurate time if you started the stop watch on contact.  Unfortunately, I don't know which way is correct.  I did find an online calculator which converts these times into feet per second and miles per hour for you.  Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
