time limits in ASA

Question
I understand each league has different rules(adult co-ed softball) for tournament play but in the event of a situation a league has discussed arises, they always fall back on the ASA rules. My question is, in tournament play, when there is a time limit of 70 minutes, can a new inning begin with less than 5 minutes left on the clock? That is in our game, we had two minutes left, we were home team and only up by 4 runs. Since I didn't have an official asa guide and the umpire didn't remember the rule, we played the final inning. Luckily we still won.
I had a recollection of this rule but am afraid it is an overlap of a league rule from a different tournament or a little league rule, lol.
Any ideas?
Answer
Hi Mandy,
In ASA play only JO has time limits and none of them is 70 min.
Doesn't matter the actual # of minutes but ASA rules read no inning will start after XXX minutes.
A new inning starts as soon as the 3rd out of an inning is recorded so you could be in the bottom of 6, if the 3rd out is recorded anytime before the 70 min limit, you'll play the 7th inning.
