Question
We had bases loaded, two outs, and catcher throws ball to first base to try and pick off our runner. First baseman missed ball, and it rolled into outfield. Our runners advanced, but runner at third, who had touched home, was called out on appeal because she stole home. We thought there was a new rule this year, that if you touched home, you were allowed to return to third without the threat of being called out. Isn't the throw to first considered a live ball and all runners can advance on a live ball?
Answer
Hi Steve
in 10ub a runner on 3rd can only score on a batted ball, a base on balls, a hit batter w/ bases full or on an awarded base. This rule only applies to 10ub
R1 should just be returned to 3rd and the other runners put back to their bases after play ceases.
R1 would have been liable to be tagged out between the bases but once she touched home, just put her back.
