running to first

Question
I have a couple questions about women's ASA fast pitch rules.

1. What's the ruling if the batter-runner steps back toward home to delay a tag?  I know the batter-runner is out, but what about other runners who might have advanced on the play?  Do they have to return to their previous bases?

2. When using a double base at first, what happens on a dropped third strike when the first baseman needs to go on the foul side of the base to receive the catcher's throw?  It would make sense for the runner and fielder to switch bases (i.e., runner takes white and fielder takes orange), but I've been told that the fielder needs to touch the white base.  This would put the fielder directly in the runner's path and seems to defeat the purpose of having the double base.

Thanks.

Answer
HI Karen,

Runners return to the last base legally touched touched at the time of the interference.

If the the throw is coming from foul territory or an errant throw pulls R3 into foul territory R3 may use the colored portion and the b-r may use the white portion.
