Runner interfernce

Question
A runner is running towards 3rd base and the fielder is blocking the base with ball in a non-force out situation.  In an attempt to reach the base, the runner makes inadvertent contact with the fielder.  After the contact, the fielder drops the ball.  Is the runner safe or out?  Is the fielder not obligated to give 1/2 of the base to the runner?

Answer
Hi Brad,

I guess I need more info on "inadvertent contact" with the fielder who already has the ball and is blocking the base.

You can't remain upright and crash ,even by accident, into the fielder but I don't know if that happened.

Is the fielder not obligated to give 1/2 of the base to the runner?  Not at all.
