ASA Rules on worn bats

Question
I currently hit with a 2004 Demarini F2, I love this bat, it is broke in and provides me with more than enough pop. My problem is that the bat has a good size dent on one side of the bat, as do many of the Demarini bats have flat spots. There are no cracks in the bat, just a flat spot on the one side. Is it still ok for me to use this bat or do i need to find a new bat?
Answer
Hi Christopher,
As you probably know ASA umpires carry bat rings with them and in tournament play we "ring" every bat.
If the ring slides over the bat it is legal for play. A "good size dent" will probably not allow the ring to slide and would therefore be an illegal bat.
If I were you I'd start to look around for a new bat.
