Pitching Arc

Question
My daughter had a her first "All-Star" tournament game tonight(Little League Fast Pitch Minor Girls). I was really confused when the other team's 2nd pitcher used a high arc on several occasions. The umpire called strikes that looked like illegal pitches in my church slow pitch men's league. I was beside myself that a 10-12' (or more) were being called strikes. Our girls (including my daughter) started swinging at some of the high pitches after the umpire was calling some strikes. It was a joke. At 8 years old it is MUCH harder to hit a 10-12' arc. We might as well teach our pitchers to pitch high arcs. Was the umpire wrong? I just got more mad when the last pitcher the opponent used seemed to throw nearly every pitch with a 10-12' arc. I thought this was supposed to be a "fast pitch" game.
Answer
Scott,
Your right. However, each umpire has a different height were they will call the pitch a strike. Mine is about 8 feet. I've seen some who won't let the pitch be 6 feet or higher and some who will call it at 15 feet. It all depends on the umpire.
I hope this helps.
