Question
Batter had 2 balls and 1 strike. On next pitch she fouled off. During her swing she injured her hip and could no longer finish her turn at bat. No, she was not hit by the pitch, therefore we did not award her first base. What is the correct ruling for a batter who can finish there turn at bat in the middle of a count?

Answer
Hi Jack,

If a legal sub is available, it's a simple substitution and the sub assumes the count.  If a sub is available, they must enter the game, no option is given.

If no sub is available, we have to call an out and the team plays shorthanded.  The player may not re-enter the game later.
