run ahead rule

2016/7/15 17:33:49

Question
Does the run ahead rule mean that a home team can win in any inning after the fifth if they have reached the run rule or does the run ahead rule mean that if you don't score the run limit by the fifth, you must finish the allotted number of innings?

Answer
Hi Matt,

Anytime after the required # of innings the rule applies.

Let's just do the sp rule, in tournament play it is 20 after 4 or 12 after 5.

Visitors are down 10-0 after they bat in the top of 5, game continues, they are down 12-0 after they bat in the top of 6, game over.
