Slow Pitch delivery rules

Question
I started using a different technique last week  by swinging my arm outward kinda underarm grenade toss delivering at around the "4 o'clock area" instead of the traditional "6 o'clock" area. the umpire told me it's a illegal pitch. Using the clock face how far outward past the hip can I pitch the ball?

Answer
Hi Mickey,

In sp the rules state that the ball must be delivered past the hip in an underhand motion.

Let's take the example of batting, in sp if it's not a bunt or a chop it's legal.

Taking that analogy, if it's not overhand or sidearm, it's underhand.  Exactly where one stops or begins is up to the umpire's judgement.  In playing around with your 4 o'clock, to me it's underhand.
