Fastpitch Bat

Question
Dear Sir,

I'm having trouble choosing a new bat. I play in the NWAACC in Washington State, I'm a freshman and left handed slapper. I want to buy the Worth Mayhem bat but don't know if I should be swinging a 24 oz or 23. I have been swinging a 23 for a while and its been favorable but don't know if it would be a big change to moving up to a 24. Could you help me?

Answer
Hello Erica,

To be honest, I don't really see a need to go up in weight if you are a slapper.  Typically I would recommend swinging the heavier bat if you were just a traditional hitter, but for a slapper, the added power you achieve from a heavier bat wouldn't be beneficial.  I'm a Tennessee Lady Vol fan and Worth is their main sponsor.  I noticed during the Championship that several of their hitters use the Blue Mayhem and as you know their lineup has several great slap hitters.  I had a couple of girls on my travel team this season who also swung this bat.  I think you'll enjoy it.  If you will check on Ebay right now, you can find some really great prices!  Good luck and let me know how it turns out.

Coach Mike
