Question
QUESTION: I'm a freshman starting her first year of softball at my highschool. I've only been playing softball for two-three years. Is there anything specificly that would be impressive to a coach?
ANSWER: Terri,
This is an awesome question! The most impressive quality for me to see as a coach, is for a player to Hustle every where they go. I would rather have a player with a little bit of ability and a lot of Hustle, than a player with a lot of ability that is lazy. My best advice for you is too work hard even when it hurts and do exactly what is asked of you. I tell my players to "GO HARD".
Good luck, work hard!!
Always practice like you play!!

QUESTION: But what if you get injured during a game, like getting a softball in the knee, and you don't tell the coach your hurt until you get hit there again? Should you tell the coach and not play or not tell them and play through the pain?
Answer
Terri,
At some point in time you are going to get hurt playing ball. Most players love ball some much that they don't want to be taken out of the game. But they need to understand that the coach is responsible for that persons safety as well as the level of success of the team as a whole.
The team should not have to suffer a loss due to a players inability to perform.
Good coaches will know when their players are hurt, but you should always report injuries to your coach if YOU think you cannot play.
Work hard and remember this, "When you are not practicing, someone else is!"
Good luck, Coach Suthe.
