Soft-tossing to self

Question
My daughter plays 16U travel ball and also gets weekly college-level hitting instruction.  Her goal has been to play high school ball, not desiring at this time anything further.  She's a pretty good hitter but I am truly concerned that high school softball will mess it up.  One of their drills is to soft-toss to themselves and hit the ball into the net.  I personally feel this over time will mess up her swing.  They also use light bats, heavy bats, thunder sticks, swing away, etc. for different hitting stations.  So long as my daughter is able to get set, I am not that opposed to the other stations.  But, throwing the ball up and trying to get that hand back on the bat and hit it ~ I simply think is ridiculous.  Please let me know what you think.

Answer
Wanda,
These drills to some do seem quite pointless, however all of these drills help in the development of eye hand coordination, small motor skills and large motor skills as well.
Don't worry about her being able to play H.S ball,if she is currently playing travel ball, she should do fine. Generally, Travel ball is more competitive than H.S because they have a larger group of kids to choose from, if she can play, there then she'll be able to do well in H.S.
Good Luck,
Coach Suthe.
