Question
I'm only in 8th grade but I'm trying to plan my future! I would really like to know what colleges are looking for right now for scholarships. I play Fastpitch softball. I am practicing already. I play pitcher and catcher and everybody thinks I'm a amazing batter! I bat off a machine at 70 mph. So if you could get back to me i would really like to know what colleges are looking for right now!!

Answer
Kendall,
I appreciate your initiative in wanting to work towards a college scholarship at such an early age, I'll be betting that you make it one day.
College softball is not a sport that is trendy or that changes from year to year, coaches are all looking for the same qualities that they have looked for ten years ago.
Coaches want young ladies with outstanding ability,in all areas of offence and defense, however coaches love to see players with a strong work ethic, players that are easily coachable and simply all around good people. Players with great ability and attitude seem to have a way of seeing the whole picture of team success and work to improve themselves as well as their team as a whole.
So, my advice to you is to work hard on and off of the field to become the best player and person that you can become.
Remember, " When you are not practicing, someone else is."
Good luck,
Coach Suthe.
