Question
Girl on second, batter hits a base hit. Ball is thrown in from the outfield to the pitcher. Girl rounding first stops to try and see who the pitcher is going to make the play on. She wants the girl rounding third to score. Batter was called out due to the "hesitation rule." Is this the right call? I couldn't find anything in the rule books.

Answer
Hi Kim,

If she was stationary when the pitcher had the ball in the circle (and the pitcher is not making a play) the runner must immediately attempt to advance to the next base or immediately return to the base left.

She cannot just stand there.
