Catcher throwing to the shortstop.

Question
Dr. Ambrose, it's always a pleasure viewing your answers.

My question is. Runner at second base, pitcher pitches the ball, catcher sees that the R1 at second base takes a big lead, the catcher throws to shortstop in order to fool the base runner at second and hopefuly get her out. Mind you that no other bases are occupied except second base.

Under ASA rules, is that allowed? Either way can you guide me to the section of the ASA 14U Girls Softball.

Answer
HI Richard,

If you're asking me simply can the catcher throw the ball to F6 in an attempt to make a play on R1, the answer is sure, why not.

There is no section on 14u, JO rules are scattered throughout the book in their appropriate sections.
