Ball Dropped By Catcher On 3rd Call Strike

First thanks for taking my question!!!

Wanted to make sure I understood the 3rd call strike dropped in girls ASA U12.

Case (1) If bases are loaded and less than two outs, ball is dropped by catcher on 3rd call strike (or swinging strike) hitting the ground. My understanding is ball is immediately dead, batter runner is out and runners return to their respective bases without liability of being throw out or can the runners advance at their own risk?

Case (2) Bases are loaded and 2 outs. Ball is dropped by catcher on 3rd call strike (or swinging strike). All runners have an force situation correct?

I guess to make the ball dropped by catcher on 3rd call strike is first base must be open with less than 2 outs for the rule to be in effect. Do I have the correct understanding!!!

Hi Al,
In ASA play unless your local league has exceptions (which they can)

Case 1 batter is out, ball remains live and runners can advance at their own risk.

Case 2 correct, there are forces at all bases, the catcher only need control the ball and step on home plate.

Almost, 1st base must not be occupied with less than 2 outs or anytime with 2 outs.

Also the rule is when the catcher fails to catch the 3rd strike before it hits the ground.  Not that the catcher has to drop the 3rd strike.  It can be a ball that hits the ground and is swung at before getting to the catcher or a trap, etc.
