High School Fastpitch - Kentucky

Question
If an 8th grader starts a varsity game, I was told they can not go back and play junior varsity.  Is this true?  My daughter is on the varsity and has not started a game, nor played but will be pitching junior varsity.  She could possibly start some varsity games as pitcher.  What is the ruling on this?

Answer
I really can't tell you about Kentucky, but in Michigan this would be no problem.  In Michigan a player can move freely between JV and Varsity, as long as they are young enough to play JV, as long as they don't exceed the maximum contests allowed for the particular sport.  There may be some restrictions on playing in a JV contest and Varsity contest on the same day.

You should ask your high school athletic director to get a ruling from Kentucky's high school sports association if there is any question.
