Question
I am coaching a 10 and under team for the first time this year and last night I had ump tell me that girls swing their bat between pitches to keep limber were required to keep at least on foot in the batters box while doing so. I have never heard that and quite frankly it sounds a little dangerous for the catcher especially at age 10. What is the rule on that?

Answer
Hi Jim,

that is correct

In JO play the batter must remain in the batter's box with at least 1 foot between pitches and while taking signals or practice swings.  7-3-c

Evan at 10u the catcher needs to be taught and aware of what the batter is doing.
