Slow pitch Softball - Safe or Out?

2016/7/15 17:27:20

Question
Runner on 1st base.  Sharply hit ground ball hits 1st base without being touched, bounces up, and hits runner on 1st base base before runner can leave the bag.  Ball then bounces off runner and lands in foul territory.  Is the runner out?  Does it matter whether the runner is still on the bag when the ball hits him?

Answer
Hi mark

I assume the runner is on base, did not intentionally interfere with the batted ball and since this is sp I assume F3 is playing behind 1st base.

In this case the ball is dead, br is awarded 1st base and runners advance 1 base only if forced.
