injured player in 14U ASA recreational fastpitch game

Question
Dr. Ambrose, I have a question concerning injured players. If a player severly sprains an ankle in a game and can no longer play, what is the correcvt ruling for her next and subsequent at bats? Is there: 1) an automatic out for her position everytime in the order, 2)an out for the next at bat only, or 3) no out is declared because of the on field injury? In consecutive games with different umpires, one went with option 2 and the other with option 3. I could not find a ruling in the rulebook provided to me. Please provide section/rule number in rulebook for reference.
Thank you

Answer
Hi Rich,

The correct answer in ASA play is the team plays shorthanded and an out is recorded in the injured batter's spot every time it comes up
4-1-d-2-e but read all of section 2.

In playing shorthanded it makes no difference (except for ejection, then you can't play shorthanded) why the person left the game.  Please don't confuse ejection with disqualification.

also look at 7-6-o
