DP / Flex substitution

2016/7/15 17:25:56

Question
QUESTION: Coach had flex bat in the DP spot (no problem) but my question is can the removed DP Courtesy Run for pitcher/catcher(who is not the flex)? This potentially has the original DP and Flex on base in the same half inning.  Your thoughts?

ANSWER: Hi Thomas,

The dp and the flex may never be on offense at the same time

plus a cr must be someone who has not been used in the game

QUESTION: Can a Courtesy Runner be used multiple times in a game or once they are used are they considered to have "been used in the game".

"IF" the CR is considered to have been used in a game, are they now only available to re-enter the 2nd time for the "same" line-up position that they CR for?

Answer
Hi Thomas,

A CR is not considered to have been in the game (it is not a substitution and they can CR multiple times) however the same CR that runs for the pitcher can only run for the pitcher's position for the remainder of the game.  Same for the same CR who runs for the catcher.  #8 cannot CR for the pitcher in inning 1 and then the catcher in inning 3.

Also if the DP is batting for the pitcher or catcher no CR is allowed for the DP
