Question
We had bases loaded w/ no outs infield pop up ump calls infield fly , 1 of are baserunners was not on the bag when she saw it was not going to be caught she ran tom second she was called out for not being on the bag when she advanced. What is the proper call on htis play

Answer
Hi Brian,

If the ball was not caught, it's like any uncaught fly ball, the runner can advance anytime at their own risk.  They do not have to tag or be on the base when the ball hits the ground, again it's just like any uncaught fly ball.  I want to emphasize that!

The only difference with an IF is the batter is out and there are no forces.

You could protest this call, it's not a judgment call it's a bad rules interp.
