I have a question that I bet you have never had!

Question
Home team is up with 2 outs in the bottom of the last inning, and the score is tied.  The batter clobbers the ball and as it is sailing over the fence the cover comes off the ball and the left fielder catches the cover, but the main part of the ball clears the fence, what should the umpires ruling be?

Answer
Hi Roger,

I'll bet you're right.....do you guys stay up nights thinking of some of this stuff????

there is no rule for this that i know of other than rule 3 talks about the "softball" and the "cover" so I've got the "softball" clearing the fence, i've got a hr and i'm going home.
