Question
QUESTION: runner on first, fair ball hit to right field, fielder touched it in fair territory and then fumbled it and eventually knocked it out of play. The runner was going to third at the time and the batter was stopped between first and second. We awarded the runner home and the batter third. Were we correct?
ANSWER: Hi Jim,
A fair batted ball, deflected by the defense, going out of play I have 2 bases from the time of the pitch for the b-r and the r. Position of the runners at the time the ball went out of play is irrelevant.

QUESTION: Thanks for the reply, what about a foul ball caught in fair territory and then carried out of play? Thanks, Jim
Answer
HI Jim,
I don't know how you can catch a foul fly ball in fair territory? Do you mean either the player is in fair territory or the player is in live ball territory?
Either way doesn't matter, if a live ball is unintentionally carried out of play by a fielder the award is one base from the last base touched at the time the fielder leaves lbt.
