Question
WITH A RUNNER ON 1ST AND 0 OR 1 OUT, AND A DROPPED 3RD STRIKE, IF THE BATTER RUNS TO 1ST AND THE PLAYER ON 1ST RUNS TO 2ND, AND THE CATCHER THROWS TO 1ST.  SINCE RUNNER WAS OUT AND BY RUNNING TO 1ST IMPEDED THE CATCHER, DOES THE PLAYER ON SECOND HAVE TO GO BACK TO 1ST..AND IF NOT, IF THE CATCHER THRU THE BALL AND HIT THE RUNNER GOING TO FIRST, THE PLAYER ON SECOND CAN GO TO THIRD..  HOWEVER, IF THE BATTER NEVER RAN THEN THE CATCHER WOULDNT HAVE THROWN THE BALL..WHAT HAPPENS TO THE RUNNER THAT RAN TO 2ND???  THANX

Answer
Nothing, they can stay on the base where they ended up.  By rule in this situation, the runner going to first is not interference.

It is up to the defense to know what to do with the ball.  The catcher should have thrown the ball to second to pick off the steal!
