Nationals Pick up Player rules

Question
I see a lot of softball discussion sites seeking pick up players for national ASA tournaments.  My daughter was asked to be a pick-up player last year, but was disqualified because they said she had been rostered on a team to play in a state tournament.  Her official team never played in the ASA state tournament, but they would not allow her anyway.  I felt this was a "favor" done for the protesting team, who she used to play for years before.  What is the official rule?

Answer
Hi Sue,

This is not a question for an umpire as we never, ever rule on eligibility.  You need to contact your local or state JO commish.  I'm sure there are a set of rules on this that are strictly adhered to and it's not an arbitrary thing.

If you don't know who that is write me back w/ where you are and I'll find out.
