Age appropriate to start switch hitting?

Question
I have a righty 9 yo daughter who I consider a very good right handed power hitter. She can also hit left handed... but just not as well since we've never really practiced it. Is working on her lefty swing ok at this age? What age do kids start learning how to switch hit? She has good speed. Should she learn how to slap hit? Thanks in advance.

Answer
"Very good right handed power hitter"  Don't change a thing!

If you want to start working her from the left side, make sure you don't cut into practice from the right side.

I don't know that there is a specific age you start working both sides of the plate.  I would think that 9 may be a bit early unless she is pretty advanced athletically.  As long as you don't sacrifice work on the right side, I don't see anything wrong working on some slapping/drag bunts now if she can handle it.
