Substitution/re-entry

Question
Mark,
I am the commissioner of a Recreational coed league.  We play under ASA rules.  Scenario is Championship game of single elimination tourney.  R1 on first has injury, T1 (team 1) wants to pinch run for him. T2 agrees saying T1 can only do this once. T1 agrees and puts S1 in for R1 and states R1 will re-enter (R1 is their only pitcher). 2 innings later T1 wants to sub F9 with S1.  T2 says they can't.  I was the PU for this game and agreed with T2 was I wrong?

Answer
Hi Beau,

R1 can be substituted for by any legal sub, they do not need the permission of T2 to have S1 run for him.

S1 can re-enter once but only in the batting position of the pitcher (r1) who would now be out of the game as S1 subbed, and R1 re-entered as he is allowed to do once.

So S1 cannot sub in for F9, you were correct.
