Question
QUESTION: can a team start with 8 bat around in the first inn then insert a #9 after the lead off batter has batted twice
ANSWER: to start a game you have to atleast have 7 players. but if you know you are going to have another player show up late put them on the bottom of the line up. when their turn comes up to bat just tell the umpire that they are not here yet. you skip them with no penalty. when they do show up they just wait til their turn to bat but just tell the umpire that they are here.

QUESTION: LET SAY THEY START WITH EIGHT BUT NO NAME IS GIVEN TO UMPIRE THAT A PLAYER WILL BE LATE AND CAN YOU ADD MORE THAN ONE AFTER THE PLAYER HAS BEEN SKIPPED
Answer
on the roaster sheet there should be a place at the bottom to put all the extra players. for ex. players that are hurt or players that are not present but are still on your team. But where it is numbered 1-12 or whatever your is thats where you put the players that are playing in the game or that will be showing up late. if you do not tell the umprie and it comes time for the girl to go to bat and you have not told the umprire that she is not there yet..they will count her out!
