Question
Hello.
I am currently playing shortstop but my reaction timing is a little slower than i would like.
Because of this, more balls are getting past me than i would like.
Any tips?
&& My hitting has always been a strong point for me, but now ive developed some bad habits.
My stride is way too big when I swing, pitch, and throw.
I also tend to roll my wrists when I swing.
I have a lot of power I just don't know where I picked up my bad habits.
any help would be appreciated.
:]

Answer
for fielding you should run alot of sprints. like the distance from second to third. this will get you faster. and get a partner and stand really close to them and have them throw the ball to you hard on the floor. this shortens the time you have to react to the ball, so come game time when you are normal distance it will feel as if you have more than enough time to get to it.

hitting, rolling the wrist is a nasty habit. the only thing i can suggest for that is to practice your swing everyday. look at your hands. a bad habit is all in your muscel memory. so you have to watch your hands all the way through and do it over and over and over until your mind and bodu work together to get the correct formation. bad habits are usually picked up from practing incorrectly. if you goof around during practice you start to build bad habits. a wide stride is very common just try making marks in the sand of where ever you practice, dont go past them.  it seems simple but it not. practice makes perfect. remember that!
