strike mat and batters box

Question
Dear Sir,
I am a vice-president of an adult slow pitch softball league and my question pertains to the dimensions of the strike mat we use, we currently have a mat that is width of a 14 inch plate and is 24 inches deep. It seems this benefits the batter. should the mat be larger and what is the size of our batters box and where is it positioned by the plate?

Answer
Hi Mike,

the only mat we use in ASA is in Senior play and it is 17" wide (as hp is 17" not 14")and 25.5" long fitted tight to the point of the plate.  This makes the overall strike rectangle 34" long when you include the plate

The bb doesn't change and is 3 by 7 w/ 4' in front of a line drawn thru the middle of the plate.
