Question
My daughter is a fastpitch pitcher and was diagnosed with tendonitis a couple of weeks ago.  She has an ASA tournament in a couple of weeks, and I was wondering if she would be able to wear a brace on her elbow when she's on the mound.  I don't even know if there is one that will help, but I thought I should now the rules before buying something.  Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Mandy,

A pitcher cannot wear anything on their pitching hand, forearm or elbow that is distracting to the batter in the umpire's judgment.  I can't imagine any normal epi brace would be in that category.

This is a repetitive injury that can be caused by an improper pitching technique, but in any case the underlying cause needs to be found and corrected or this can be a real problem
