Question
I just bought a worth bamboo slow pitch softball bat. I bought it for when we hit our homerun limit so I could use it and no hit another homerun on accident. It just says official softball on it. There is no asa stamp. the bat is brand knew and I can't find anywhere on the internet that says its illegal or if it is even legal. I want to know so i can return it if I must and get one with a asa certified stamp. I didn't think at the time of purchasing it that a wood bat wood be illegal because of the high dollar composite bats we are abale to use.
Answer
Hi Troy,
The way I understand the directive this year is if a bat does not contain the ASA certification mark (either the 2000 or 2004 mark) it should not be allowed in ASA Championship Play unless in the sole discretion of the umpire was made prior to 2000.
So strange as it may seem I believe your bat would not allowed.
