Question
Fastpitch girls youth softball ASA rules apply

Both teams leave the field, Is the batter out or can the caoch say since batter went to first she is safe. Please clarify rule as dropped third strikes are new to our league.
Thank you for your time and answer.

Answer
Hi Dave,

The D3K rule applies with less than 2 out and 1st base NOT occupied or ANYTIME with 2 outs.

In this case the batter is entitled to run on a D3K.  However you said the batter went to the dugout, if they went into the team area or dead ball territory they are out or

You also said both teams left the field,if any runner left the base and entered the team area or left live ball territory, they are out.

In this case just to make it easy next time the catcher should learn from this situation and just touch home while having control of the ball.
