Question
I have 8 guys and 6 girls playing in a 5 & 5  NSA league...what would be the best strategy for the lineup. Can I bat all fourteen players and defensively can I just sub in and out as I please???

Answer
Hey Jerry,

Thanks for your question.  Well, NSA is a little different from what I'm used to and rules are usually modified slightly for local leagues, so you may want to consult your local commission before finalizing your line-up.  They should have the rules in a PDF format ready for your review.  BUT, you should not be able to bat all fourteen players, you will not be able to play more than 12 at a time, with two of the players being identified as Extra Players and two being identified as Substitutes - these four will pair-up (male-male, female-female) and be able to go in for one another.

As I said though, NSA is a little different and I see you are from Canada also (potential differences in rules).  You will need to check your local commission to be certain, or just ask the umpire before the game starts.  Here's a link to the 2008 NSA Rule Book:

This should be able to help you.

Take care and good luck!

Shane
