Question
I am trying to keep the stats for my daughters fastpitch softball team, and I am having trouble figuring out the strike three and on base stats. I have downloaded some spreadsheets that let me enter the AB, H, R, 2B, 3B, etc., but doesn't the OBP get effected when the runner makes it to first on strike three as well as possibly scoring. I am confused about this because they did not make it to base with a hit or BB. Please help me understand this better.

Answer
Here is the formula for on base percentage

OB% = (base on balls + hit by pitchs + hits)/(sac flies + base on balls + hit by pitchs + official at bats)
