Question
runner is on 3rd base, fly ball is drifting towards 3rd and the defender is trying to move across the 3rd base bag, the runner defends her self and not pushing the defender but keeping her balance nudges the defender and the umpire calls the runner out for extending her arms toward the defender. Uh?

Answer
Hi larry,

This is a htbt type of play as it involves an umpire's judgment of a situation.

Obviously by calling R1 out the umpire thought R1 interfered with F5. Even though on base a runner cannot intentionally interfere with the play.  That is a judgment call by the umpire.
