Batter out of box interference

Question
A player backs out of the box. A player stealing 3rd base. Catcher throws to 3rd base hitting the batter out of the box interference was called on the batter she was called out and the runner had to go back to 2nd base. Was this the correct call?

Answer
This is a one of those calls where you had to be there to give a definate answer.  But from your description it is very likely interference.

The catcher should be able to move to a position to make the throw to third.  The batter moving from the box in most, causing a problem with the throw, will in most cases be call interference.
