Question
Hi, my name is Amanda and i work for JPCenney. We have a coed softball teams at my job. I play 2nd base for my team and was wondering if you could help me out with a situation we had at one of our games. We play on Saturday mornings. Well this particular Saturday morning we had a game but we only got through the bottom of the 3rd inning about to go to the top of the 4th when it just started pouring down rain. they called the game on us and said that we would continue that same game and pick up where we left off on another day. They said that we had to have the same exact people play that played the start of the rain out game. my question is, why would we pick up where we left off and not just start the game over?
Answer
Hi Amanda,
Under ASA rules and I don't know what rules you use, any player on the roster may play at the continuation. They just need to be legally subbed in. In ASA you start exactly where you left off down to the balls and strikes.
It seems "stupid" to me for rec coed to have a rule that only players at the "1st" game could play especially if a Men's "A" national championship game would not be subject to that rule.
