Question
We have had an agruement in our league with 1 team about standing in the batters box... When they come up to bat they always have 1 foot behind the back line and say it is legal accoring to ASA... They also say that you only need 1 foot inside the box.....  Is this true ??? I always thought that both feet had to be in the box .....

Answer
Hi Chris

In ASA play both feet must be completely in the BB prior to the delivery of the pitch.  They may touch the lines but no part of the foot can be outside the lines.7-3-a

contact w/ the ball is different any part of the foot touching any part of the line is considered in the box.  The other foot may be in the air.
