DP/Flex substitutions

Question
ASA youth fastpitch question... the DP can play defense for anyone on the field. If the DP plays defense for the Flex, it needs to be reported to the umpire. The original Flex player can return as the Flex later in the game. Once Flex has returned to play defense once, can the DP be used to play defense for the Flex again later in the game? Is there any limit on the number of times the DP & Flex can alternate playing defense?
Answer
Mic,
Look at it this way. Any 9 of the 10 players can play anywhere on defense. When the DP plays defense, it is not a substitution. There is no need to report defensive position changes to the umpire. Since these are not substitutions, no limits on what you can do. The only exception to this is that a pitcher can re-take the circle once per inning.
