Question
Could you please explain "sudden death" overtimes where they put a runner on second base to start the inning?
Answer
Hi Trudi,
it's not sudden death nor is it overtime, it's extra innings and it's called the tie breaker rule. After 7 innings (or 1hr 40 min JO pool play) we use it. It's pretty simple just read it over.
RS 54. TIE BREAKER RULE. (Women抯, Girls?JO Fast Pitch and Men抯 Senior
Slow Pitch).
During each half inning of the inning used to enforce the tiebreaker,
the offensive team shall begin its turn at bat with the player scheduled to bat ninth in that respective half inning being placed at second base. For Example, if the number 5 batter is to lead off, the number 4 batter in the batting order should be placed on second base. A substitute may be inserted for the runner.
