Run scored?

2016/7/15 17:07:18

Question
Base runners on the corners ,with 2 out. The batter hits a triple but misses 2nd base. After a moment the shortstop appeals 2nd base and the batter is called out. Which run or runs count ,if any, and why? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Tony,

Since both R1 and R2 scored before the appeal of B3 at 2nd both runs would score.  The only ways preceding runs cannot be scored is if the 3rd out of an inning is a force out (or the b-r doesn't safely attain 1st) and this is not that.

Now if he had missed 1st base no runs would score or if R1 had missed 2nd no runs would score.
