Triple Play/Run Count?

2016/7/15 17:06:17

Question
I coach a squadron intramural team in the Air Force. We play by ASA rules. Here's the situation: Bases loaded, no outs. The ball is hit to the SS, the runner on second tries to avoid the tag and is called out (I can live with that, since it's a judgement call) and they proceed to force out at second and throw to first. Does the runner on third, who happened to cross the plate before the last out, score? We tried talking to the ump, but he wasn't having it and was actually getting in our faces. Just curious if our run counts. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Zach,

My only son is Marine Sgt. Ben Ambrose, currently somewhere in the Middle East, I don't know where, doing something, I don't know what. Tough on a dad!  Thank you!!!!! for your service!!!!  God Bless You and keep you safe.

No the run would not count no matter if it scored before the out at 1st.  By rule, anytime the 3rd out of an inning is a force out or the b-r does not safely attain 1st, no run can score.
