ASA Softball game suspended
2016/7/15 17:05:52
Question
Playing in our mens tournament we completed 4 out of the 7 innings. In the 5th inning the game was suspended because of lightning, we were ahead 3-2. Should we complete this game or did we play enough innings to be the winners of this game. I am not sure if the the rules for softball are similar to baseball.
Thank you,
Andy
Answer
Hi Andy,
depends where in the 5th and who was ahead, if you were the home team and had finished 1/2 of 5 the game would be over... here's the rule
A game called by the umpire shall be regulation if five or more complete
innings have been played, or if the team second at bat has scored more
runs in four or more innings than the other team has scored in five or more
innings. The umpire is empowered to call a game at any time because of
darkness, rain, fire, panic or any other cause that places the patrons or players
in peril.
D. Games that are not considered regulation shall be resumed at the exact
point where they were stopped.
