Question
Greetings,
We play in a modified pitch mens league in NH and this is my situation:
Opposing team starts with 9 men hitting with the pitcher not hitting so they have employed the DH. In the 3rd inning they use a substitute to go in for the pitcher( who was not hitting)and want the substitute to bat in the DH spot as well. So basically the substitute is replacing 2 players who were in he starting line up.  Legal? and if yes are the 2 players who came out of the game both eligible for re-entry?

Thank you,
Bob Cavanaugh
Pembroke,NH

Answer
Hi Bob,

In modified we don't have a DP (or a DH) so this is a local rule.   So I can't tell you.

Just for your info and it may be something you ask your LD if your local rule is based on FP DP/Flex rule this would be legal by #x going in to the DP batting position and then also playing defense for the Flex. You could later re-enter #1x or #2x in the proper line up position(s) based on the DP/Flex rule.
