playoff rain out rules

2016/7/15 17:03:28

Question
Hi,
I play in a co-ed slow pitch softball league. During a playoff game, we had really bad weather so the Ump called the game mid-inning in the top of the 5th because the rain was so bad. What is the correct ruling on this? Do we restart the inning or pick up exactly where we left off? Also, do you know if a team can contest to the ruling if you feel the umpire let the game go on too long in the bad weather?
Thanks,
JB

Answer
Hi Jennifer,

Under ASA rules you restart at the exact spot (down to the count on the batter) the game was stopped

Nope it's the umpire's judgment as to playability of the field

sn any player on the roster can play at the restart they need not have been at the "1st" game, just legally sub them in.
