Question
My daughter plays 12u sunday select fastpitch. when she winds up she is dropping her arm back to a 9pm or 90degree(reaching toward second base) position before coming foreward. the umps this year have told her she must drop her hadn even with her body or maybe only go back to the 7pm position. there seems to ba alot of confusion. i dont know if the rules changed or if it is this particular league.
please help before i change everything my daughter is doing
can you send me a link where i can get the rulebook from asa
thanks

Answer
Hi James,
Based just on your description I don't see a problem. Hands separate, arm drops to the side and back (I don't care how far back) starts the windmill, steps and pushes..correct?
ASA 6-3D. The pitcher must not make two revolutions of the arm on the windmill pitch.
A pitcher may drop the arm to the side and to the rear before starting the
windmill motion.
You need to ask your JO commish on how to get a rule book.
