Question
In a game that is on a time limit. We were the visiting team. We were almost out of time 15 seconds. We look at our watches new the game would be over soon. But we turned a double play which left 5 seconds on the clock. The ASA umpired ruled since the 3rd out was made before the time expired we had to play a complete inning. Which then took us 20 minutes to complete. Was the umpire correct in doing this? Rick

Answer
Hi rick,

You know 99% of the complaints I hear is that the umpire screwed out of another inning....there was 1 minute left or there were 45 secs left.

A new inning starts by rule as soon as the 3rd out of an inning is made.  In this case w/ 5 secs left you started another inning.
